Sharon Locke

Sharon Locke works fluidly across sculpture, printmaking, photography, drawing and installation. Her current work embodies a sustained curiosity about the creative process, drawing parallels with quantum theory’s exploration of interconnectedness. She explores ways to express her inner visions, translating the intangible into sculptures of steel and glass and mixed media monoprints.

Her work moves between grids, sacred geometry and entanglement – creating dialogues between the seen and unseen, where the observer and the observed co-create meaning.

Locke’s short documentary Survivors of Sexual Assault was the recipient of 2 Addy awards for Best of Broadcast & Video and a Gold for Public Service Announcement in 2015.

She has been the recipient of 5 NYSCA Grants for community projects in 2018, 2014, 2013, 2000, and 1998.

She was awarded two fellowships to study painting and drawing in Aix en Provence, France and bronze casting in Pietrasanta, Italy in 1989 and 2010.

Locke has earned a BFA in Sculpture and a MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College in 2000.
